The Ascension

The Ascension is a Vorticist-style work by sculptor Malcolm Brocklesby (1932-2010) and shows Christ ascending from the Cross in the moment of resurrection and ascension. Strangely, nowhere in the rich imagery and statuary of this church is there a portrayal of the Risen Christ – so this addition rectifies that omission. Other of Brocklesby’s work is at Ripon Cathedral, Mount Grace Priory, Helmsley Castle and The Peace Museum in Bradford.
